A Quick Note on Authentic Mountain Living! Because our cabin is tucked away in the beautiful Smoky Mountains, it runs on private, deep-well water. Mountain well water is mineral-rich and completely safe, but it behaves a bit differently than city water: Minerals & Iron: The water has a natural iron content. The "Smoky Mountain" Sulfur Smell: If it rains heavily, or if the cabin has been sitting empty for a couple of days before your arrival, you might notice a brief sulfur/egg smell when you first turn on the taps. Don't worry! This is completely normal for well water out here. Just let the hot and cold water run for 2 to 3 minutes, and the odor will clear right out. Our Local Critters: We have the cabin professionally treated for pests regularly, but mountain spiders spin cobwebs faster than the Flash! If you spot a fresh web on the porch or in a corner, it just means our local arachnid cleaning crew is working overtime. We want you to have a seamless 5-star experience under our new management with Highland and Main. If you have any questions or if a temporary odor doesn't clear up after running the water, please text us right away!
